What makes us different?

We keep our classes small, so you will never feel like you’re just a number. With no more than eight people per class, our instructors aim to offer as much personal care and attention as possible. We run around 22 classes per week, including mornings, evenings and Saturdays, which means we can help you find a class to suit your schedule.

Personal Care

Our instructors have a good background knowledge of injuries and are trained to modify Pilates exercises to suit your needs. Classes are performed safely, effectively and at the appropriate level for you.

 Quality

We believe in offering a premium level of instruction. Our team of highly qualified instructors and physiotherapists have been carefully selected and have all undergone postgraduate training in Pilates.

 Choice

In addition to our beginner/intermediate classes, we also offer antenatal and postnatal Pilates classes, a dedicated class for the over-60s and an advanced core class for those looking for a challenge.

MORE THAN JUST A GREAT WAY TO GET FIT AND HAVE FUN

Pilates can also be used as an integral part of treatment and rehabilitation. There is a growing body of research in support of Pilates, and the medical world has taken note of its benefits in the prevention, rehabilitation and reduction of recurrence of back pain and injuries.

Before you can join us, you will be required to attend a Pilates assessment so that we have a good understanding of your medical history and personal requirements. You can also see one of our instructors for one-to-one or small-group sessions if you require more individual attention.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • Beginner-Intermediate Class +

The beginner-intermediate Pilates class aims to get all participants to reach an intermediate level of Pilates. Beginners are introduced into these classes at any stage, and the instructor can modify each exercise to suit your level. Most of our classes are pitched at a level that is suitable for gaining and maintaining a good level of core stability and is also ideal for managing chronic pain or injuries. The class focuses on developing correct postural alignment and movement patterns and gradually builds good core muscle strength and endurance.
  • Intermediate-Advanced Class +

The intermediate-advanced Pilates class suits individuals who have a good Pilates foundation – able to maintain good body alignment; demonstrate a good level of strength, control and endurance on the basic Pilates movements; and feel ready to progress to more complex or demanding exercises. This does not always mean you must have done Pilates for a long time – some people reach this point sooner for a variety of reasons such as exercise background and genetics! Equally, it is not appropriate to move to this level just because you are strong – movement quality and control are more important than brute strength!
  • Over 60's Pilates Class +

This class is suitable for those who want to work at their own pace in a gentle, relaxed and friendly class. Exercises can be modified to accommodate limitations due to arthritis, osteoporosis, or any other restrictions. This class is performed at a slower pace (but no less effective) and can help to improve and optimise posture and gait, can help protect against osteoporosis, is gentle on vulnerable joints and focuses on improving balance giving you confidence for everyday activities. Specially formulated for those who would like to exercise, but feel intimidated by the pace and demands of other Pilates classes.
  • Antenatal Class +

Pregnancy Pilates is an ideal way to exercise safely throughout your pregnancy. The carefully selected exercises target your deep stabilising abdominal and pelvic floor muscles.
  • Barre Class +

Barre classes combine elements of Ballet and Pilates and will encourage you to work towards the grace and posture of a Ballet dancer whilst building on the principles of Pilates. This upbeat class will involve a combination of challenging Ballet technique with some cardio movements and isometric holds. We also include a mat section focusing on abdominal strength and an arm toning section with hand weights and bands. Equipment is used to enhance the overall workout. All levels welcome from beginner through to advanced.
