Sports Massage Therapy

Sports massage therapy is a deeper form of soft tissue massage. It uses specific techniques to treat people who are physically active and who may be more vulnerable to injury because of the stresses placed on their body by their sport or activity.

While gentler forms of massage can be relaxing and soothing, they do not go ‘deep’ enough to have any lasting effect on the body’s soft tissues – the muscles, tendons and ligaments. Sports massage stimulates the nervous and muscular systems and improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow.

This type of massage encourages a fresh supply of oxygenated blood to reach the muscle tissues and flush out metabolic waste products and toxins.
